Who We Are:
Richmond Express Inc. is a locally owned and operated on-demand delivery
service. The company was founded in 1982 when the original owner saw that
there was a need for same day delivery service in Richmond and the
surrounding areas. Since that time Richmond Express has continued to lead
the way of delivery services with an ever-increasing fleet of cars, bikes,
trucks and vans. We are a 100 percent employee based work force.
What We Do:
Our employees, whether driving vehicles or riding
bicycles, deliver documents, boxes, equipment, and supplies for businesses
and hospitals in the metropolitan Richmond area. We are an on-call service,
which operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are currently looking
for help Monday thru Friday 8am to 6:30pm; however if you are interested in
working nights and weekends please let us know. (Note: these hours are
approximate and may vary from day to day depending on our workload.) On
occasion we will hire part-time help. Please ask if our current needs call
for part-time help before you apply.
How We Do It:
Our current work force consists of people of all ages and
from all walks of life. We only hire courteous, professional drivers with
good driving records and helpful attitudes. Because of this, how you look
and act during your interview is a good indication to us of how you will
perform on the job. All of our drivers are paid on Monday of each week. To
allow time for accounting one week is held back. Pay is based on a 48
percent commission on each delivery, in other words all drivers will make
48 percent of whatever Richmond Express charges for the delivery. For
example: If Richmond Express charges $10.00 for a delivery from downtown to
Innsbrook, the driver would receive 48% of that amount or $4.80. An average
paycheck ranges anywhere from $400.00 to $700.00 per week or more,
depending on the driver and their knowledge of the city. From your gross
earnings you need to take into account the expenses of operating your
vehicle. Gas, tolls, repairs, speeding and parking tickets are your
responsibility. Richmond Express, Inc. also offers benefits such as health
and dental insurance, paid vacations plus sales and recruitment incentives
to those who qualify.
Requirements of Employment:
There are several requirements for employment at Richmond Express. You will
have to have a valid Virginia driver’s
license and a good driving record. In addition, we require that all
couriers carry a minimum of 100/300/50 thousand dollars of insurance
coverage. A copy of your insurance policy showing this coverage must
be shown to us when you are interviewed. We also require that all drivers
adhere to a strict dress code. Visible tattoos, dirty, sloppy attire and
long or unusual hairstyles are not allowed. WE DRUG TEST ALL PROSPECTIVE
EMPLOYEES. IF YOU USE DRUGS PLEASE DO NOT BOTHER TO APPLY.
How You Can Be Hired:
Once you have filled out the application please leave it with one of the
office personnel. On the following day call 804-788-8080 and ask for Bob
Thompson or Arthur McCray to set up an interview. Please have a copy of
your current DMV record and your automobile insurance policy listing the
amount of coverage with you. Once you have been interviewed we will notify
you of our decision at our earliest convenience.
